One of the biggest advantages of Formatic Wallet is how fast it is to get started. Unlike hardware wallets or MetaMask, you don't need to install a browser extension, write down a seed phrase, or manage a keystore file. Here is a complete step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Find a Supported dApp
Formatic Wallet is not a standalone app you download separately — instead, it is integrated directly into dApps that support it. To use it, visit a dApp or exchange that has implemented the Formatic SDK. Examples include OpenSea, Airswap, and Zerion. On these platforms, look for a "Connect Wallet" button and select Formatic from the list of options.
Step 2: Enter Your Email or Phone Number
Once you select Formatic as your wallet, you will be prompted to enter an email address or phone number. This is your sole identifier — no username or password is created at this stage.
Step 3: Verify via OTP
Formatic sends a one-time password (OTP) to your email or phone. Enter this code in the verification field. This step confirms your identity and authorizes wallet creation or access.
Step 4: Set Your Password
After OTP verification, you will be prompted to set a wallet password. This password is used to encrypt your local session. You can also set up device 2FA and a recovery email for additional security.
Step 5: View Your Ethereum Address
Once authenticated, your Ethereum wallet address is displayed in the Formatic interface. You can find this in the wallet panel (accessible from the top-left menu of the dApp). This address is where you receive ETH and ERC-20 tokens.
Step 6: Deposit Funds
To deposit funds, copy your Ethereum address and send ETH or tokens from another wallet or exchange. Formatic does not currently support direct fiat purchases, so you will need to transfer from an external source such as Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken.
Step 7: Interact With dApps
With funds in your wallet, you can now approve transactions, sign messages, buy and sell NFTs on OpenSea, and interact with DeFi protocols — all without ever leaving your browser or installing a plugin.
Tips for Smooth Use
Keep access to your registered email or phone number at all times. If you lose access, you may need to use your recovery email to regain control. For extra protection, enable device 2FA in your wallet settings. Always verify dApp URLs before connecting your wallet to avoid phishing sites.
